Edge Computing

Edge Computing

● Edge computing is the practice of processing data near the edge of the network, where the data is being

generated, instead of in a centralised data-processing warehouse. For internet devices, the network edge

is where the device, or the local network containing the device, communicates with the Internet.

Key benefits of Edge computing:

● Decreased latency and real-time or near real-time data analysis as the data is analyzed at the local device

level, not in a distant data centre or cloud;

● Lower operating costs due to the smaller operational and data management expenses of local devices vs.

clouds and data centres;
