The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Formation :  1950 by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Independent India’s first Education Minister :  Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Source :  iccr.gov.in Objectives :  To actively participate in the formulation and implementation of policies.  To foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and other countries.  To promote cultural exchanges with other countries and people; and to develop relations with nations. The Council addresses its mandate of cultural diplomacy through a broad range of activities. In addition to organising cultural festivals in India and overseas, the ICCR financially supports a number of cultural institutions across India, and sponsors individual performers in dance, music, photography, theatre, and the visual arts.

Mugger Crocodile

Mugger Crocodile: ●It is a reptilian species also called "marsh crocodile" or "broad-snouted crocodile", and is one of the three crocodile species (Saltwater Crocodile and Gharial) found in India.  ●It is extinct in Myanmar and Bhutan, and possibly extinct in Bangladesh. ●Its habitat includes wetlands (inland), marine neurotic (shallow part of ocean), artificial/aquatic & marine. ●It is a hole-nesting species, with egg-laying taking place during the annual dry season.  ●Vadodara the only city in India where they live in their natural habitat amidst human population.  ●It has been listed under CITES Appendix I, categorized as 'vulnerable in the IUCN Red List and protected under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
