"We, The People of India, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SSS.DR. Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic, Republic nation and to secure all its Citizens: 

JUSTICE, Social, eco & political; 

LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith & worship 

EQUALITY of Status &  opportunity 

and to promote among them all 

FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the nation.

Territory

Acquisition of Territory 

  • Acquisition can be by the govt 

  • But Admission will require a law either u/ 2 or u/ 3. 

  • The acquisition of foreign territory by India in exercise of its  sovereignty automatically makes the said territory a part of the territory of India.  

  • After such territory is thus acquired and factually made a part of the Union of India the process of law may assimilate it either under Art. 2 or under Art. 3(a) or (b).  Ex. Of Chandernagore
