CSE PLEDGE

IAS (With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts)  I…….(name)…….. pledge that I will neither keep my mind dirty nor I allow anyone to make my mind dirty and distract. I will keep my mind and thought clean and free from garbage and maintain it throughout the year. I will also keep our computer, mobile, and tablet clean and distraction free. I will encourage and motivate people for meditation. I also pledge that I will strictly observe "clear my mind" meditation with the sound of silence before and after using of internet. I also pledge that I will save every second of time and secure my tomorrow. I will motivate people to save time. I also pledge that to keep my room clean I will plant positive thoughts in my mind and motivate others to do so. I will effectively implement “Daily Routine”. I will encourage 5 other persons to take this pledge which I am taking today. I am confident that every step I take towards this journey will help me to become an IAS.

How to read ShankarIAS (environment) book:

It is a bulky book with lots of facts. I too grappled with this question. Then with the help of a kind college senior who got into IPS that year, I figured out this way. Read the book once in its entirety. Don't worry about remembering anything, but take a curious look at it. Use google and spend time exploring this world. Should take 3-5 days. Once done, start again. The first few chapters on environmental science are essential. Understand and remember every concept. Chapters on agricultural science and international cooperation are also important. Try to understand and remember them. Then comes the problem of how to remember so many flora and fauna species? There scientific names do not make much sense right? (Atleast to ignorants like me). In which schedule are they placed according to WPA or CITES? Which all species are found in any particular climate type? What to do with all those big tables? We can't remember them so no point in wasting time and energy into the effort. I...

Review of ForumIAS current affairs program by Dipin sir

Quality of the content - second to none. But more focused on giving value added material that is to be used either in introduction or conclusion. Coverage - They cover issues in depth which leads to some areas left uncovered. So if you are taking the course, make sure that you also refer to atleast one current affairs magazine to cover the gaps. Cost benefit ratio - It does take significant amount of your time. The amount of gain depends upon your own level of preparation. If you have good basic notes and understanding of various issues of national importance then you will be able to better appreciate the lecture. If you are still covering the syllabus and lack consolidated notes then you might find it difficult to comprehensively cover everything. In that case, I would rather prefer reading specially designed compilations that provide basic knowledge about current events that happened (except for Vision - information overload :) ) Forum's course will give you value added materi...

Pro tip for Geography Answers

After interacting with many toppers, seeing their answers I discovered: In geography questions: Compulsorily Make a map Try making a schematic and figures. Include examples from india and world too ( if possible) Cover different dimension on questions on geographical features. Extensively use keywords in the answer. Jail escape : when you don't know the answer. If you don't have much content make a flow chart , map or figure and scribble some keywords in the answers.

During ANSWER Writing KEEP few things in MIND

Always strive to complete your paper.  Instead of writing few very good answers write all answers even if they are average.  If you have a poor handwriting work on it. More easier it is for the examiner to read and understand your copy, more marks you are likely to get.  Try to finish every sheet you get in the answer booklet because it provides an impression to the examiner that you know things. We all know that examiners do not read every word you have written. It is just the overall image your answer creates in the mind of the examiner and that image should be of a positive, concise and informative answer. I would suggest writing answers in point wise format as it looks neat and is easily comprehendible.  Marks don’t matter. Your improvement over the tests does.  Always analyze your test copy after it has been evaluated by someone. Mentally frame some improvements you would like to try in the next mock.  Diagrams, flow chart, maps do help in better pres...

HOW TO ATTEMPT THE GS PAPER

Firstly , attempt 15 mark questions —-within 15 mark question choose 8 que (you can do this within 5 min given to you before you can actually start writing ). These 8 que. are the one on which you are confident to write good. Secondly , go all out for 10 marker questions  Thirdly attempt 2 que. you left od 15 marks ones  Always keep an eye on watch after each que. attempt so that you are always knowing whether you have to speed up or write at the same place. (third option don't exist —-you never have to slow down 😆) —These timing you will frame for yourself when you are giving mock tests  Always underline important things , committee recommendations , data , statistics etc. will fetch extra marks.
