CSE Mains 2021 Experience explained by  Rahul Chavan, IPS'20  UPSC CSE'19 AIR 109.   ESSAY.. ( UPSC syllabus mentions well educated person will be able to answer ( write upsc papers) without any specialised study ..this is biggest MYTH ..and that will reflect in essay itself )  How I attempted .. section A ..2nd essay ..( your perception..) ..in 1 hr 40 minutes..then Section B ..5th essay ( Hand that rocks cradle ..) in 1hr 20 minutes. Analysis - All are philosophical essays . - Very subjective statements. - All are equally hard and difficult to decode. - Essay changed from 2017( two GS and two philosophical in each section ,so one had liberty to attempt both GS topics ) , In 2018 ( one section complete GS topics and other section complete philosophical topics ...so here one had to attempt one philosophical essay ) , In 2019 , 2020 .almost continued with 2018 pattern with more philosophical topic inclination and this year All are philosophical topics ..So One must...

Rahul Chavan IPS, GS-4 strategy

CSE Mains 2021 Experience explained by  Rahul Chavan, IPS'20 UPSC CSE'19 AIR 109. General studies paper 4  How I attempted : - started with case studies .. alloted 15 minutes for each case study i.e .total 90 minutes..but It took 10 extra minutes and led to little bit mis management of time allotted for section A...And then attempted Section A ..  Analysis- Section B Case studies were relatively easy but there were around 4 sub- questions on almost every case study , so Qs became lengthy and ultimately time consuming..Key to solving such lengthy Qs is a good speed and more answer writing practice..(One must avoid habit of writing stakeholders , facts of case , subject matter, values involved etc in lengthy questions. Even if , it gives a good impression, one can't afford to miss other questions for it .) Section A :- On the expected lines ..most of the questions as per syllabus ..( Q3- a,b,c ...Quote based questions may be difficult but one needs good answer writing pract...

Rahul Chavan IPS, GS-3 strategy

CSE Mains 2021 Experience explained by  Rahul Chavan, IPS'20 UPSC CSE'19 AIR 109. General studies paper 3  How I attempted:- Started with 15 markers ..First economics (4Q) , then Environment and Disaster management (2Q) , then Internal security (2Q) and last Science and tech (2Q).And then attempted 10 marker from 1 to 10 . Analysis- Some tricky 15 marker questions .. Q13 ..On NFSA 2013 , need to write specific points .. Q15..On achievement in applied biotechnology..( if one have notes on this topic .. it's easy to attempt but without notes ..on the spot .. it's difficult to write ).. Q16- On Blue LED .. unconventional Q ..even though it was there in CA .. thought upsc won't ask on such topics so neglected and upsc didn't disappoint and as usual surprised🤠 Apart from S&T , other Qs were moderate and attemptable. Some 10 marker tricky questions.. Q1 - On GDP .. Couldn't get more than 4 points..same with almost all people. Q5 - On S400 ..even here also les...

Rahul Chavan IPS, GS-2 strategy

CSE Mains 2021 Experience explained by  Rahul Chavan, IPS'20 UPSC CSE'19 AIR 109. General studies paper 2 How I attempted : Started with 15 markers , first IR (2Q), then social issue (3Q), and last polity (5Q).Then attempted 10 marker from 1 to 10 . Analysis:- Some 15 marker tricky questions Q 13 - about notion of right to equality .. difficult to write more than 4 specific points ..so very general answer .. Q 14 - Difficult to remember exact article of legislative council (Art169) ..even while writing it became very general answer .. Q11 - Tricky in the sense , Q is  demanding answer in  support of CBI's jurisdiction over state cases , so they will check inclination of individual ( even if you feel CBI is politicised ..you can't write here ) .. Apart from these 3 Qs , other Qs were attemptable and easy to moderate Some 10 marker tricky questions Q1 - On constitutional morality .. difficult question..Need beforehand preparation. Q3- On 14 FC - Few people knew exact reco...

Rahul Chavan IPS, GS-1 strategy

CSE Mains 2021 Experience explained by  Rahul Chavan, IPS'20 UPSC CSE'19 AIR 109. General studies paper 1  How I attempted :- I started with 15 marker questions . Having a  geography optional , chronologically attempted geography ( total 3 ) then society ( total 4 ) and then history ( total 3) ..and then started with 10 markers ..from 1 to 10 serially ..( 110 minutes for 15 marker and  70 minutes for 10 markers )  Why : 15 markers need special attention and these are time consuming..so always better start with 15 marker ..even in these questions one should have clear way of attempting questions..I have geography optional so obviously I started with them , then even in geography we have some part of society syllabus ..so have a more command over these questions , so society was next and lastly History ..( If you start 11 to 20 questions..there will be difficulty in managing flow ..so better identify your strong areas ..this micromanagement will be important for c...
