DOs and DONTs for Prelims 2022

DOs and Don't for Prelims 2022

DOs

1)  1 source min for each subject

2)  1 source max for each ( unless absolutely necessary to refer something for some topics)

3) maximum revisions

4) analyse pyqs ( 2013-2020 mandatory)..Analysing doesn't mean merely knowing answers, its much more than that.

5) Stronghold over static+ Decent preparation of current affairs.

Always remember- mostly till be easier questions attempted wrong which will throw you out of the game

DONTs

1) Blindly Chasing UPSC - Following Trend is important and necessary, but dont get fixated with absurd and weird topics asked in just preceding year. Ex - Agriculture in 2020, Sports in 2021;

Preparing agri as much as possible is imp, but that doesnt mean doing PHD in it.

And preparing Sports isn't imp at all.

2) Not having plans in this stage.

3) Misplaced priorities. Eg - Art and Culture current over static polity.

4) Over Thinking ; Just try to control the controllable

5) Overemphasis on mock tests..over regular revision. There's an optimum number of good quality mocks which you need, rather than 200 mock tests.

6) Overemphasis on current affairs ..over static..you need to do current affairs in the right manner, rather than mere indigestion of facts from one magazine.

7) Searching for external motivation everyday..Discipline, routine, clarity and internal motivation is the key in the long term.

You need to understand..It's time to get serious for Prelims now.

Utkarsh Dwivedi IAS   air-5 UPsc cse 2021 PSIR STRATEGY, NOTES AND MY ANSWER COPIES If there is one factor that has helped me achieve a single digit rank in CSE, it is my optional. I have scored 168 in paper 1 and 146 in paper 2, making it 314 in total. I have still not come across somebody with a score more than this and hence a comfortable claim can be made that this is one of the highest score this year. In this blog, I would mention what helped me achieve this score.  I DID NOT refer to any other source than Shubhra Ma'am's notes. There are two reasons to it.  Firstly, since I had reached the interview stage in all my three attempts, I never had the luxury of time to refer to any book.  Secondly, I believe Ma'am's notes are more than enough to form the core aspect of the subject's preparation. I did value addition from multiple sources so as to get an edge in my answers: I referred to copies of toppers of the respective tests that I attempted during my mains ...
