International Agreements

Abraham Accord

Peace (normalization) agreement signed between Israel-UAE and Israel-Bahrain, mediated by the USA, in Sept 2020. The name Abraham is to honour the patriarch of three major Abrahamic religions of the world-- Judaism, Islam and Christianity.

There were only two peace deals between Israel and the Arab States in more than a quarter of a century. Egypt was the first Arab State to sign a peace deal with Israel in 1979. Jordan signed a peace pact in 1994.

Uniting for Consensus

Uniting for Consensus is a movement, nicknamed the Coffee Club, that developed in the 1990s in opposition to the possible expansion of permanent seats in UNSC. It includes Pakistan, Italy, South Korea, and Colombia. The UFC demands a 25-member Security Council with more non-permanent members instead of a few more permanent members.

G4 (Brazil, India, Germany, Japan: BIG-J) on the other hand, demand inclusion in UNSC as permanent members.

Oslo Accords

A pair of agreements between the Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization signed in 1993 and 1995 which set in motion a Israeli–Palestinian peace process.

Hague Convention

A treaty on Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction that provides an expeditious method to return a child internationally abducted by a parent from one member country to another.

Signed 1980. India hasn't ratified yet. [Not to be confused with Hague Code of Conduct on ballistic missiles- MTCR-Biochemical Weapons, which India has joined]
